Steve McNair

My heart goes out to the McNair family, it is a terrible tragedy for them to endure. Most of us did not know steve personally, however he entertained many of us with his extraordinary football skills, and athletic ability. The name "Air McNair"
will go on forever.

I hope that many of us can find one positive thing from every tragedy that we are forced to endure. Family death, the death of a friend or peer is the most unfortunate part of life. It is NEVER easy when a loved one is taken from us, but that does not mean that we should stop " living" ourselves.

Live with a purpose , always always always have a purpose..... Find what is important to you, stir your emotions every now and then and find what is REALLY in YOUR HEART. Often the visions that we have that stem from our love of something , are usually the very dreams that lead us to our purpose in life....I coach football, I train athletes, I mentor young men, I try and inspire people in my life... this is what I dream... and no lie... it ALL STARTED with my dreams, not the dreams that happened in my sleep, but the ones I had when I was WIDE AWAKE.

I do not want to be in the later stages of life reflecting back and say " I wish I had taken the time to coach football and help the young people." So I live it... almost daily I live my dreams...
My hope is that you will all have your emotions stirred by what makes you feel complete, and when your dreams become crystal clear do not let anyone discourage you from achieving them... they are YOUR DREAMS... so stay away from negative personalities, and stay around the people who encourage you and add value to your life. I love you guys, I really do... I want each and everyone of you to succeed and live a happy, full life.

Don;t be shy either, share your dreams with me.. tell me what your vision is,I would love to help you achieve an extraordinary life.

DREAM BIG, GO HARD,

Robby Delgado/ Coach Matlack -ultimate 100 recruiting combine and showcase.

I recently visited the Martin middle school with head coach Shane Messier to speak to the up and coming freshman TOWNIE FOOTBALL players.
I asked the group of wide eyed, young student athletes "how many of you are excited to begin their career as a TOWNIE FOOTBALL player?" and of course they all raised their hands...
The next question was "How many of you plan on playing four years of high school football?"... once again they all raised their hands.

The third question took us even further down the road when I asked , "How many of you plan on going to college, and playing football?" this time about 80 percent of the room raised their hands....

WOW..... college football???!!! I'm always inspired by the huge dreams of young student athletes. But few youngsters actually have a firm grasp on the level of long term dedication that is required to reach such awesome goals.

- Robby Delgado is entering his junior year as a TOWNIE FOOTBALL player, and he is a standout on the field, in the classroom , and in the community. I have had the benefit of working very closely with Robby in his quest for greatness.

Robby tested in New Jersey in early June with the best student athletes in the country , players traveled from the top divisions in Virginia all the way up to Maine
to showcase their ability to rivals.com at the ultimate 100 national underclassman scouting combine. It was an invitation only event that Robby and two of his teammates qualified for at another combine. Robby fit right in with the best of the best, it was obvious he had been working non-stop this off-season . Robby is a young man with HUGE dreams and I BELIEVE with all my hear that he will achieve all of them.

I want to encourage ALL the young athletes who read this to email me, call me, text me, or talk to me in person about what your DREAMS are, do not be afraid to DREAM BIG, and GO HARD to fulfill your purpose in life... if you truly believe that you can achieve something, let me know... I am always excited to help you put together a plan to achieve your goals.

I hope that you take my invitation seriously and ask me about my experiences this year with Robby and his fellow teammates who are working towards extraordinary futures. Robby is a great example of the dedication that is required to transform dreams into reality. I truly believe we will see him playing on Saturdays in college as a major contributor in whatever role he is put in.

Have a great day everyone, I will be expecting to hear from YOU! ... yes YOU!

Tragic death of high school coach

I am so sad to hear about the tragic death of COACH Ed Thomas.

I didn't know Coach Thomas personally, but as a fellow football coach I am saddened to hear about the loss of a brother.

I hope his family can find the strength to be well after the mourning of coach Thomas, I wish there was something that I could do to help them through such a painful stage of life.

The future of TOWNIE FOOTBALL

Thursday was an awesome day! Townie coaches met with the rising 8th grade class to speak about the high school football program.

A good crowd filed into the caf at Martin middle school in East Providence around 1pm
Thursday afternoon. Coaches spoke about preparation, the importance of family and academics, and the "NO EXCUSES" motto that the freshman football program revolves around.

Head coach Shane Messier will enter his 5th season, reaching the playoffs in all of his first four seasons. The success of the freshman program comes from a strong emphasis on building good character traits , the belief on the inside is that a top notch football program promotes the type of qualities that result in good citizens in the community.

I promise that TOWNIE FOOTBALL is hard at work to reach new heights on the football field, in the classroom, and in society. The young men who move through the ranks of greatness in the TOWNIE FOOTBALL PROGRAM have huge goals and care about making their supporters proud.

When you see a student athlete , take a minute and say hello.... get to know the TOWNIE FOOTBALL players , and you will see young men with BIG DREAMS, a ton of talent , and a work ethic powered by the urge for extraordinary greatness... The young men in the TOWNIE FOOTBALL program are striving to be winners in all aspects of life. The TOWNIES are playing for YOU!!

Create your own light

I have experienced alot of different relationships in my life, some good... some great.... some were just down right unpleasant.

The relationships that ended up setting me back were the ones that were built in the shine of someone elses light... The times where I found myself associating with people who had a completely different purpose than I did.... the people who no matter what blessings came their way they felt they were not getting their "cut" in life. Or who felt that the way to success was to cut others down and crush the dreams of others so that they could gain selfishly from it.... this is NOT ME.

I feel that these people who's values are contrary to mine are nothing more than a negative relflection on me. I work too hard at what is important to me to stand in the light of a negative person... because it is true that bad association spoils useful habits ...

I encourage you to CREATE YOUR OWN LIGHT.. and to only stand in the light of positive people. I heard great advice that warns ...." be careful, the choices you make are who you will become. " .... just like the association you keep and the friends you have in your life will reflect and mold who you become.

I now choose to stay in the light of people with positive motives, my purpose in life is glaring and clear as water.... it is to help add value to the lives of young men and other fellow people who are interested in being free and living a happy life and who also have an urge to help others....

I ask everyone today to take a little time for yourself and try and look at yourself from the eyes of a child.... take a look at yourself through innocent eyes, and ask yourself if you are standing in the proper light... or perhaps you could live a more extraordinary life if you created your own light that could help bring value and happiness to your own life as well as inspire others to shine just as bright.

We are NOT PERFECT... we WILL HAVE BAD DAYS and we will do things that we wish we had not done... but it is not important that we stumble it is IMPORTANT that we get back up and get back on the right path>

Thank you everyone for reading this, I know that sometimes I can be long winded
( insert laughter here) but the messages I post for you are things that are on my mind and sometimes I just sit here and let it all out and share it with you... so I hope that if nothing else I can provided you with an insight into my life and some food for thought into your own life.

Have a GREAT day.. and I MEAN IT... have a GREAT DAY!

and remember to create that light and shine it bright.

Live with a PURPOSE

This weekend three TOWNIE FOOTBALL players tested at an invitational combine in livingston new jersey, we are anxiously awaiting the results to see if any of the three get invited to oklahoma for a special combine for the most elite high school players in the entire country.

The competition was TOUGH , bringing the best of the best from Virginia all the way up the east coast to maine, the top players from all five regions tested in different locations. The next step will be to see the best of the best from each five regions compete against each other in Oklahoma for a very special event. Historicaly all players who test well at this event end up with offers to play football on scholarship at the next level.

I had the chance to spend time with the TOWNIE'S own Robby Delgado, He was registered as a QB ,however Rob tested as a DB and he improved all of his stats from his last cobine , and shined in the 7 0n 7 tournament mixing it up with players from top divisions all up the east coast including 6aaa virginia players and 4aaa new jersey players, rob displayed a good football IQ and proved to everyone how hard he has been conditioning , He played smart, and very PHYSICAL.. it was evident that rob has the skills to be a shut-down corner as the QB'S in the tourney stopped throwing to his side. Most of the time the receiver on his side of the field couldn't even run his routes because Delgado did a great job of knocking him off , and taking him out of his comfort zone with great technique and quick/powerful athletic moves.

Jalin Braxton and Trey britto also were invited and tested at the event, the freshman _Braxton tested friday night and showed strong ability as a runner.

Trey Britto tested as a WR and shined in the 7 on 7 event catching several passes for touchdowns and continued to stay an open receiver with quick fluent double moves to make up for a below average 40 yard dash time, he continued to create separation from himself and the DB's that were covering... urrr (TRYING) to cover him. Delgado proclaimed he is " the only one who can actually cover" his long time friend and teammate.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!! to all three athletes, I know how hard Delgado has been working to accomplish great things, he is a great example for any young man with big dreams..

GREAT JOB FELLAS!!! I AM PROUD OF YOU!.... not to mention I had an outstanding experience talking with coaches from Virginia to Jersey, I felt alive Saturday for sure, I had a chance to spend some time with my advisor/ nutritionist from ADVOCARE Mr. REAL ANDREWS , he's a friend and a good motivator. We met back at another combine and both share a strong passion for helping add value to peoples lives, he is the man responsible for handling Wes Welker of the NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS supplements, So thanks Real.

And a big thanks to everyone else who made this weekend one to remember... felt like life couldn't get any better this weekend, I got time to spend with Robby , trey, jailin and saw so many unbelievable athletes from some major football programs on the east coast.

If you want to hear more about our experience in Jersey PLEASE feel free to contact me... Coacheric80@yahoo.com.

Have a great day everyone , I can"t wait to see who's life I can help change today! Or who might change mine!

Brotherhood

I am thankful to have good friends in my life, I woke up this morning feeling just really blessed to have peace of mind.

I slipped into a funk last night for a few hours, and let myself get filled up with negatvie vibes. I even pointed the finger elsewhere and ignored the fact that I was the cause of my own frustration. I let frustration get the better of me instead of putting others first.

I am thankful that I am able to wake up and put both feet on the floor today and start over fresh. I am so proud of the coaches on the TOWNIE FOOTBALL freshman staff for their efforts, they all work full-time jobs other than being a coach, and then put in another full time effort into making sure our student athletes are focussed on the right things. I am proud to say these men are my friends and mentors.

I encourage everyone today to count their blessings and except their blessings, be thankful for the good people in your life. I am thankful for the extraordinary student-athletes that are in my life, and the great parents and coaches who contribute to our community.

Today we all have the opportunity to have an extraordinary life, lets except our opportunity to change someones life today. Put someone elses best interest above your own today and let me know if it made a difference. I'd love to hear your experiences.
